WHAT TO DO IN AN ACCIDENT

  • If there are injuries, call 9-1-1 immediately
  • Drive the vehicle out of traffic lanes (if safe to do so)
  • Activate 4-way flashers
  • Ensure everyone is a safe distance from passing vehicles
  • Exchange information with other driver(s)

Capture the following information as accurately as possible:

  • Year, make, model, license plate # of other vehicles involved
  • Name, address, home, work and cell phone, driver’s license #, insurance carrier and policy # of all drivers involved
  • Contact information for any witnesses

Take photos or draw a simple diagram of the accident and be sure to include:

  • Point of impact
  • Observations about the other driver’s behaviour or actions that may have impacted the crash
